Ingredients
- 9 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 15 T unsalted butter
- 4.5 C semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/3 C flour
- 1/4 C + 1 1/2 t unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 C + 1/4 t baking powder
- 1/2 T salt
- 2 1/4 white sugar
- 7 eggs
- splash of vanilla
- powdered sugar to decorate
Instructions
- Melt unsweetened chocolate, butter, and 2 1/4 c chocolate chips in a saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally. Let cool.
- Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
- Beat together sugar, eggs, and vanilla with an electric mixer until pale and frothy, about 2 minutes.
- Mix in melted chocolate mixture and then floour mixture at low speed until combined well.
- Stir in remaining chocolate chips.
- Chill, covered, until firm, about 2 hours or more.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Scoop balls with a scooper and arrange a couple inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets (lined with parchment paper).
- Dip in powdered sugar and put powdered sugar side up on cookie sheet.
- Bake in middle of oven until puffed and set, about 9-11 minutes. (cookies will be soft in the center).
- Let cool a couple minutes on cookie sheet
- Transfer to racks to cool completely.
This is another family recipe. These cookies may take a little bit of work but it is soooo worth it. There is the perfect amount of sweet without going overboard and trust me when I say these cookies are paradise.
